With, literally, a few minutes between customer jobs, I thought I should try to get something done on mine. The next job on the list was to panel in the second fuel tank. So it was back to the paper templates…

Fuel Tank Foam
Sunday, April 18th, 2010In order to try to stop fuel surge, I managed to get my hands on some tank stuffing. I had to feed it in through the filler necks in tubes. I haven’t had any surge yet, but while I am working on the fuel system I thought I may aswell.
I have a small amount of foam left to stuff the fuel swirl pot, (when I get it drawn up…)

Refuelling System
Thursday, April 8th, 2010There has been much debate regarding refuelling for SPEED. I have however checked and had the OK to use the ATL dry break system, rather than other systems on offer. This is a ‘proper’ dry break system and as such I am happy to use it. I know that a different system has had the OK, but I am not happy to use it, as there is nothing to ensure no fuel spillage!
Anyway, below you can see the female part that goes on the car. I forgot to take a pic of the dump churns, but all of the CTR cars use these which means we dont have to buy different churns for the cars, hence saving a load of cost. That said the Juno is different but they came with the car!

Fuel System Update
Sunday, March 28th, 2010After what seems an age of no updates, I can say that things will get back to normal service soon! The second fuel tank, required for longer races, such as SPEED, has been made. I have also modified the original tank to now have duel 2 inch inlet pipes. This is for the ATL refuelling system, that will be with me on Monday. One to allow the fuel in, and the other the air out. This does mean that there will be a bit more plumbing inside the engine bay, but without it cant see an option to fill the car safely mid race!
Anyway, with the Easter break looming I am hoping to get the car back to a stage where I can test it again! I am not sure I will have finished the end tank for the oil cooler, but I hope that will not cause me too much problem, and fitting that shouldn’t be too much of an issue…
