Not that I was surprised, but it is clear as to the problem! The engine has thrown a rod and then it looks as if the bits punctured the oil filter pouring oil over the headers.

Monday, November 15th, 2010Blimey, it has been a long time. No I have not given up, stopped or anything similar. We have just been frantic and so time for things like this has been non existant!
Anyway, I made it to the Silverstone SPEED race, and overall I had a brilliant time! I decided that as it was my first race I just wanted to finish to get some signatures on my license, which I did!
Finishing Off the Engine Cradle
Monday, August 16th, 2010So, I finally got to spend some time on the car again this week. I cant really complain though as I spent last weekend on a hovercraft! After I finished off welding the engine cradle back together I wanted to put in back into the car and check things like the diff etc. Lucky I did as I have to cut and bend in some ‘wings’ to the top of the cradle for the diff mounts to get enough adjustement on the chain. I then painted it all up and it is now ready for going back into the car proper.
Lowering The Engine
Monday, August 2nd, 2010With the mods almost there at the front I turned my focus to the rear. In order to make the engine fit a little better, and hopefully help my lowering the CofG it was decided to lower the engine as far as could be achieved. Unfortunately this does not mean quite to the floor as the exhaust wouldnt fit, and I dont really want to get another made or mod this one, so it is about 20mm up from there, but still not too bad. This meant chopping up the engine frame a little so out with the angle grinder..
Engine Update
Sunday, June 20th, 2010No pics here, just an update on the engine itself. The engine has been installed on the dyno, and th ECU re calibrated for the change in crank wheel etc. It has now been fired up and run continuously for a reasonable amount of time, admittedly not under real load, but it was stopping before when idling! It will be put under load on Monday just to check, but at least at the moment it is starting and running correctly!
