Whilst driving round I had absolutely no idea of the next problemette! But it quickly became apparent when we took the rear body section off!!!! Basically one of the driveshafts had thrown a LOAD of horrible nasty CV grease all over the place!

Chain Guard
Sunday, September 20th, 2009The regs for the 750 motor clubs Bikesports say that you are supposed to have a chain guard which covers the upper face of the chain to the same depth of the axle line. I cant see this actually doing anything practical, apart from keeping the chain grease off the bodywork. Anyway, I made some cardboard templates and have finally got around to making it.
Drive Shafts
Monday, July 6th, 2009I wanted to try to break the back of the work on the rear of the car. This meant that the next job was to install the driveshafts. Of course this actually meant one of the most messy jobs on the car, packing the CV’s with grease! I had already done the inner joints, well they actually came greased up, but I had checked them over and squirted in some more grease for good luck. You can overfill them, but hopefully they will be fine! The outer joints however come dry but with a small tube of grease to pack them with. After about half a second with the tube thing I threw it in the bin, and reverted to the CV grease from GKN Porsche shafts. I am sure there is no difference but it come is a sachet and seemed much easier to direct!
Anyway, first up was to gently poke a shaft into the CV to help move it all around and work the grease into the joint.
Differential
Sunday, June 21st, 2009Next up was to mount and fill the diff. Not the most difficult task but still needs to be done. The black gunge around the CV bearing housing is silicon to seal it as otherwise oil might weep out between the bearing and the diff plates.
‘Chopper’ Wheels
Monday, April 6th, 2009After modifying the front axles for the chopper wheels the sensor needed to be mounted. I decided that it was OK to machine a small part of the upright away for the sensor to poke through, it was either this or extended everything further inboard but I cant see any problem with this. In this region of the upright it is very thin so I am not worried at all by machining this little away.
