Air Scoops

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

With the job list dwindling, the job at the top of the list was to attach the air scoops. I decided, by eye, roughly where I wanted to stick them so stuck a load of tape over the area. I couldnt find the masking tape, so just used a load of orange tank tape, which you can just about make out in the pic below.

Air Scoop

Monday, October 12th, 2009

This weekend I picked up the air scoops that I showed the buck of before. I have had them made in carbon as basically it didnt cost me anything and I thought it looked pretty snazzy! Although its not vacuumed, due to lack of time, but they may arrive in a sometime next year! They need a little trim and then fitting. Things are really coming together.

Door Catches/Hinges

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Whilst trying to assemble to doors I was stumped! I have no idea why, but it seems that the door hinges no longer line up?! In all honesty I was never happy with the door hinges as the door didnt open fully and it was going to be slightly difficult to get out. I also never liked the external hinges! So I scrapped them!

What I have decided to door now it to make the door removable. The idea being that the top of the door has a aluminium plate with a return that hooks under the door aperture and then the catch locates the door at the bottom at both the front and back.

The first component is the arm to operate the locking rod that runs along the door. This has to be slotted as the pin in the original locking rod would bind up as it would be forced to move through and arc.

Air Scoop

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

My current setup means that the engine is going to be drawing all its air from over the hot exhaust headers. This is clearly not the best idea, as the engine will be losing power! To rectify this I have made up some air scoops. These will be identical on both sides and go just in front of the rear wheels. The pictures make these look really quite big, I should have taken the photo with a ruler or something, but I didnt realise until it was too late!

Anyway, the pictures are of the buck for the scoops.

Splitter Frame Mod

Monday, September 7th, 2009

I have noticed that the splitter was a little floppy at the edges. OK you could still jump up and down on it, but I thought it was worth tweaking. Through experimentation with bits of wood I found that if I added another brace I could stiffen it up considerably. So thats what I have done!
