Now I do intend on panelling in the wheel arches, in fact the moulds have been made and the panels should be winging there way to me, I will post this up at a later date, but I thought that sealing the cockpit from the elements would be advisable. In fact these will be the last ally panels, I think!

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009Seat Belt Mounts
Monday, May 4th, 2009As I had made the seat, the next logical thing to tackle was the belts. Previously I had made up some mounts for the shoulder straps but not welded them in. This meant that at least that task was done so one less thing to do now!
First up was to mark where they needed to go. I sat in the seat and got Dad to mark my neck with some masking tape. As I am using a Hans Device, I need to make the belts actually slightly narrower than my nect so as to not slip off the Hans.
Cockpit Side Panels
Monday, April 6th, 2009I have to admit putting this particular bit of paneling off! It just worried me as it is going to be massively on show and any mess ups would be obvious! Anyway, it had to be done, so the tried and tested method of paper templates went straight into action. Below is the drivers side front infill piece. You can see here that my first cuts of the template were not quite right and copious amounts of masking tape were used to get it just right.
Yet More Ally Panels
Tuesday, March 10th, 2009Due to the changes, I needed to remake the drivers side ally panel. I thought about just using the original and adding another panel along the side but it wouldnt have really fitted and just looked naff! So I redesigned the panel in solidedge and got it bent up. Then it was pretty easy to get it to the stage it was all at before.
Internal Panel Changes
Sunday, March 1st, 2009To access the exhaust I have changed the internal oanelling a little. I have now cut the centre seat back in half and made another removable panel on the passenger side. These will be held on with button heads bolts in rivnuts.
