Clean Up

After the somewhat aborted test at Brands, due to the electrical issue, I have spent a fare bit of time, with others also, musing over the electrical gremlin and some aero improvements. However the first issue was/is to clean up the car and make sure nothing is damaged/worn etc. The passenger side CV decided to throw some grease out. This was actually because we overfilled it, after advice from a colleague… But once it had thrown out what it wanted it seemed to settle down so at least no real damage!

The best way I have found to clean the insides of the panels is to use the pressure washer and chemical. so much so that I am now looking for a second hand steam cleaner, so if anyone has one they want to part with please let me know

You can imagine the mess caused by the CV grease at the rear, so you can see that even our toy does a pretty good job. At least now you can pick up the panel and not get covered in grease!

The electrical woe means the engine needs to come out, so the real reason for starting at the back was to make a start on that.

this does mean that the wing supports have had to come off as well as the rear body brackets etc. Now the first subtle change to the aero is to move the rear wing position. I have decided to make new mounts for this, which should also mean I can get rid of a bit of the bracketry at the rear. This should reduce the weight a bit, but lets face it not a lot, and also make it easier for the air to exit the back of the car, which should help fill in the ‘hole’ at the back of the car. Lets see how it goes, I will of course keep the existing bits so I can just bolt them back on if needs be!
