Fuel Tank Pannelling

With, literally, a few minutes between customer jobs, I thought I should try to get something done on mine. The next job on the list was to panel in the second fuel tank. So it was back to the paper templates…

I decided first to do the side panel, so I drew around the tank to get the angles right and extend where necessary. I then stuck some more of the heat resistant sheet. In fact, when I originally cut out the sheet for the other side, I made it back to front, so this came in rather handy!

I then stuck the tank in to make a start on the rear panel.

You would have thought I was sponsored by pizza express! All my templates recently seem to be from their boxes!

Once sorted, I transposed the template onto a sheet of ally

By the end of the day, the panels were all done. they are not fully riveted in, but that shouldn’t take too long. Next on the list is to modify the original panel for the first tank and the second filler neck, but hopefully that wont take too long.
