I have forgotten how many times I have tried to do something with the doors! All I know is that now I finally have something that works and I like! They are now on an internal hinge that also slides horizontally!!! It has to slide out otherwise the door fouls the appeture, however once it is slid out by about 3/4 inch, it simply rotates round to open up nice and wide!

Below is the final hinge prior to paint. At the moment its in steel, but I may draw it up in CAD and get it transferred to some nice ally plates.
