First Gearchanges

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

After getting everything sorted, I thought I would try to get the engine running again, and this time give the gearchange a whirl!

I have only just glanced at the gearchange settings, so the blip is a little coarse. Remember also that there was no throttle so the engine does almost die when cut! You can also see the neutral selection working correctly!

Listen out for the blips on the downshifts!

Water Expasion Tank

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I have said before I am running an expansion pot in the water system. Below you can see how I have installed the final pot. The flexible pipe connects to an ally pipe inside the pot that extends all the way to the bottom, so that it is always covered in fluid.

Inspection Hatch

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

While re-inserting the engine, I was a bit lazy and didnt remove the seat panels. However to put the exhaust back on I needed to get a hand in to replace the springs. I decided that a small quickly removable hatch would actually be quite useful for other bits and bobs so I drilled a large hole with the biggest holesaw we have.

Wiring

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I know this has been going on forĀ a while, but the wiring is now done, well it is at a stage where the car will run and I could go testing, the rest I have been promised is in the post! In the picture below you can see the anderson plug. I think I might drill a hole in the body so the door doesnt have to be opened, but that is not exactly pressing at the moment.
