Rear Stone Guards

Friday, August 7th, 2009

I had to trim the rear wheel arch liners on both sides for the ducts, and on the drivers side for the oil pipes. These are just rivetted on at the moments, but I expect that, as they are sacrificial this might have to be changed, as each time you drill out the rivet the hole tends to get slightly larger, especially in glass!

Mirrors

Friday, August 7th, 2009

I bolted the mirrors directly onto the spider section. I dont think this will vibrate too much but like so much else, only time will tell! The mirror posts are angled slightly rearwards, as the body is sloped at this point. I had toyed with the idea of cutting and rewelding them together so they would be vertical, but I think they actually look better like this.

Rear Wing

Not exactly difficult but it seems to look much more complete! The wing has been in the loft since the mockup, and the dust seems to have multiplied! Not much the airgun wont sort!

Rear Body Supports

Friday, August 7th, 2009

To support the rear body I needed to make up some supports. You can see that the original diffuser bracket is the vertical tube in the picture, and the other slightly crazy angled arrangement is the new support. There is also a pad with the dzeus spring attached, the dzeus fastener itself will go through both sections of fibreglass and into this pad.

Front Suspension

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

I wanted to get the front suspension on, but first I had to knock up some new steering arms. The others were really a little too short. I didn’t like the amount the rosejoints were screwed out. So I made some new ones, but this time I made them from solid ally bar. They are actually slightly lighter that the originals, and slightly longer, so all is not lost!
