There has been much discussion on the BEC forums about engine problems, possibility of det or possible localised boiling of the cooling system. One thing under discussion is the water system and how people have plumbed it all up. To help my system I am running a constant bleed from the top of the rad back into the header tank. As I had already welded on some dash 3 fittings to the header tank, I decided it would be easiest to run the line in dash 3 pipe.
The pipe runs to the top of the rad, as in the picture below. Now I know it is not the exact top, but I am hoping this will be OK. The only problem here being I ordered an M8 banjo bolt, and it is, but its M8*1 whereas the thread in the rad is M8*1.25 so I have had to order another bolt! I have also wrapped some of the SAMCO offcuts around the actual pipes where they go through the panels. These should just help protect them.
The bleed pipe then goes along the side of the duct. I have tried to keep the line always ‘going uphill’, this should help to bleed better and stop air from becoming trapped in ‘U’ portions of the line.
The line then goes up the side of the water pipe and into the header tank
