Water System

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Moving to the other side of the car, my focus turned to the water system. I have previously shown pictures of the buck for the duct etc, but now it was time for the final fit. After removing the cooler and grinding/filing the louvres out properly, which I advise anyone to do outside as the amount of dust such a small amount of grinding seems to make is inexplicable, I bolted it all back together. The pipes are the standard silicone type that you can get from anywhere, these are from raceparts as they give me a good deal on everything! Now, lots of people seem to run the whole system in the silicone pipe, but really you should run as much as possible in something like ally pipe, as when the water gets hot it doesnt expand nearly as much as the silicone stuff!

Oil Cooler Connected Up

Not much I know, but the list is getting shorted by the day! The picture actually makes it look like the duct is bowed, but it doesnt appear to be in real life, perhaps its something to do with the digital camera an the weave?? the oil lines are left deliberately long to enable the sidepod to be removed without having to undo the cooler and drain the oil!

Top Ally Panel and Steering Column

Monday, July 27th, 2009

After finishing off the extinguisher lines etc, the next jobbette was to mount the top ally panel to the chassis. However the wiring is not yet finished and the battery is below this panel. I also thought it would be a good idea if I could get to the battery a bit more easily than crawling down headfirt into the passenger footwell! So, I cut the strange shaped holw you can see below. (Its the funny shape to go around certain chassis members).
