Differential

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Next up was to mount and  fill the diff. Not the most difficult task but still needs to be done. The black gunge around the CV bearing housing is silicon to seal it as otherwise oil might weep out between the bearing and the diff plates.

Exhaust

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

The next major item to go onto the car was the exhaust. As the exhaust runs reasonably close to the cockpit, being a mid engined car, I have decided to wrap the exhaust to try a keep some heat away from the cockpit.

After measuring the length required, the wrap needs to soak in water.

Engine In

Monday, June 15th, 2009

So, the main focus for the evening was to get the engine in! Unfortunately I was on my own, which was not really a problem, apart from lifting the engine in. Luckily we have an engine crane, so I wrapped a tie down around the engine and craned it in. In similar fashion to the side panels, I covered the chassis in liberal amounts of tape to protect the paintwork. After a bit of a struggle it was in and all bolted down. I would have then gone on to assemble the exhaust and mount it all up, but I had not ordered the exhaust wrap in time, hopefully it should be at home next week.

Fuel Tank Surround

Monday, June 15th, 2009

The fuel tank panels were next on the list. Obviously these need to go in before the engine, which was the main focus, in preparation of sorting the wiring out.
