The first job on the assembly was to mount the floor. I have decided to both rivet and glue the panel for added stiffness. After spending an age drilling the paint out of all the rivet holes the first major job was to key the paint surface ready for the glue. I did this with a scotch pad as you can see below. I had thought about not painting all of the surfaces that would be glued but this was going to cause more problems than it was worth!

After a quick degrease of both the ally floor and the chassis itself, I laid a thin bead of glue down. It doesnt need much as everything is flat and the mating surfaces are good.

Then it was the mammoth task of riveting the floor on. Luckily we have an air riveter so this is not too bad to do! I wouldnt really want to do this ‘by hand’ although I have done some panels before! A quick wipe to remove any glue that had crept up the rivet holes prior to riveting and that was that.
