Windscreen

Monday, June 29th, 2009

I have had the windscreen made from the centre mold. Its a very thin bit of chopped mat to allow it to be folded flat so I can draw around it to make the screen proper. Anyway, I popped it on, and thought it looked pretty snazzy like this so took a photo. It does show how far the car is from being finished aswell. Next is to mount up all the suspension, which hopefully wont take too long, although some needs a little touching up where it has been scratched.

Rear Body

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Avid readers will remember that I cut the rear body of the car into 2. This was to allow the body to be removed under the rear wing. Anyway, the rear portion has been back into the mold, and the slots that had been cut for the wing plates filled, and a lip created for the front portion. I cut some slots with a holesaw for the wing plates, but didnt have to cut the return off some the rear portion is now much stronger, and just threw it over the back of the car

Internal Panels

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Next in the seemingly random order of assembly were some more internal panels. In fact its not really random, but often I have to jump around whilst I wait for parts or paint to dry etc. The next major milestone is the centre body section, but before this I wanted to get the ‘tunnel’ in as its just easier to not have to pass it through the door openings!

Rear Diffuser

Monday, June 29th, 2009

So after trimming the diffuser last week, it was time to properly fit the diffuser. Fit was to cut 2 pads to bolt the rear of the diffuser on with. I had toyed with the idea of welding some drop links from the ally tube that runs across the rear of the car to support the rear deck, but decided that WHEN it gets bent, welding more ally will be a pain whereas the steel with be considerably easier, especially at the track! Yes the steel will weigh more, but to be honest its such minimal amounts of material, that its not worth messing around!

Actuator And Reverse

Monday, June 29th, 2009

The title of this post pretty much says it all. The next item to go onto the car was the actuator. I did however have to put on the oil fitting to absolutly make sure it was all going to fit, however I didnt get around to making the oil line but that shouldnt make any difference yet!
