The rules for some championships state that I need to have a chain guard. Not really sure why as no-one can reach round and put their fingers in it when your driving along, and the chain wont really break through the cage I have around it and then through the body, but rules are rules! However what it will do is catch all the crud from the chain and stop it making a mess, so for that reason alone I think its worthwhile!
As normal, out with the cardboard and guess what I thought looked suitable. The rules say it has to go down at least as far as the axle centre line, but, as you can see, for my design, it makes more sense to go down a little further.
First up after deciding what I was after was to weld on some tags to the steel frame. Below you can see the rear 2 tags, these will have dzeus fasteners in when I make the guard. I welded a third tag at the front, but forgot to take a picture.
