Windows

Back to the build proper and back to the doors. I have decided to both bolt and silicone the windows in. The bolts will actually be holding the window on, and the silicone sealing them. I am under no illusions that the car will leak, but the leading edge of the window is an obvious leaky area so I thought about sealing that and then decided to seal the whole thing! First up was to blodge on the silicone.

Siliconed Frame

I then bolted the window to the frame. Below you can see the excess silicone squeezed out. I am going to let this dry and then hopefully rub off the excess. Well thats the plan, we shall see how well that works out…

Hi, If you are using silicon for this try taping around the aperture with masking tape first. When you have fitted the window, before the silicon skins over use a wet finger or tool to smooth over the join between the window and door and then peel off the tape. This will leave a nice edge and remove any excess silicon without getting it all over the place.

Thanks for the heads up, I will give it a go on the other side! Like you suggest I find a wet rag is the thing.

Unfortunatly when I did this is was quite hot and the silicone had started to skin before I finished bolting it in, hence having to leave it in a bit of a mess.
