In preparation for an upcoming trackday, where we have an intercom, and future testing, I thought I had better get my helmet kit installed. Its not a difficult job to do but there is always a bit of a worry that you dont want to mess up your helmet! The first job is to remove the insides. You basically just pull it out, somewhat worrying how easy that is to do!

The next step is to get the mic in the right place. You dont want it directly in front of your mouth or all you will be able to hear is the driver breathing! Luckily the mic fitted quite well inside the gap in my Bell helmet, or you just have to cut away a small section of the polystyrene. They then give you a small bit of foam to place at the back of the mic.

The wires are then trapped between the liner and the shell. You can see below the wires threaded in before I reinserted the guts.

The method of attaching the ear piece jack is a bit naff looking but it seems to do the job.

To stop the radio jack dangling around a small bit of velcro is supplied to wrap around it and then stick it to the top of the helmet.
