Weight Saving

Having estimated the weight of the car, I have decided that adding lightness is top priority! To achieve this I can either remove things, use exotic materials, or drill holes in things. Now removing things is not really doable as everything is really needed, I think. Using exotic materials, read carbon, is far too expensive, although a very good solution. That leaves me with drilling holes, its cheap, easy and pretty effective!

So the first thing that caught my attention was the pneumatic pump and accumulator plate.

Now, I had always intended on drilling a couple of holes in this to tie wrap the accumulator on, as this is lighter than making an ally split mount, but I have now decided to take this one step further, and machine away a much larger proportion of the plate.

I did this the same way as I made the battery plate before. Below is the outcome.

Now I know I could have taken more off, but at the moment I dont want to take anything to an extreme as I want everything to be reliable aswell, but we shall have to see!
