Back to the build proper and back to the doors. I have decided to both bolt and silicone the windows in. The bolts will actually be holding the window on, and the silicone sealing them. I am under no illusions that the car will leak, but the leading edge of the window is an obvious leaky area so I thought about sealing that and then decided to seal the whole thing! First up was to blodge on the silicone.

Monday, April 27th, 2009Seat
Sunday, April 26th, 2009OK, so I have already made a seat so why another? Well, after looking at the first for a while I ddnt think it was all that great. Mainly because I have bought, what I thought was right, the bead seat for a single seater. However, probably because I am not very good at it but, it didnt seem to really have enough beads in it. So I decided that as this is a fairly critical item, I should just buy the biggest one I could get and redo it!
I also had a bit of a rethink about the technique and decided that if I could stop the beads from flowing over it might also help. So that first job was to gutter in the seat a bit with some offcuts of ally taped in position.
Helmet
Sunday, April 19th, 2009In preparation for an upcoming trackday, where we have an intercom, and future testing, I thought I had better get my helmet kit installed. Its not a difficult job to do but there is always a bit of a worry that you dont want to mess up your helmet! The first job is to remove the insides. You basically just pull it out, somewhat worrying how easy that is to do!
Windows
Sunday, April 19th, 2009Back onto the doors and it was time to make the windows. These are made from LEXAN. Its a trade name for polycarbonate, but most people just call it LEXAN it seems. Again, as everything seems to at this point in time, first up was a cardboard template.
