Oil Cooler Ducting

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

The oil cooler has already been mounted twice, so why not a third time for luck! This time I have bolted it directly to the bodywork, as in the photo below.

Air Lines

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

After staring at the previous brackets for the pump and accumulator I decided they were naf and started again! this time a lay the accumulator down on its side and bolted it to an ally plate. I made new pillars for the pump, this time with spanner flats on, and again bolted it to the plate. I do however need to drill lightening holes in the plate, but I will leave that for now!

I then set about the air lines. I am using PFE lines -4 PVC lines hoes and ally fittings. These all look pretty snazzy as they are anodised blue and black.

Rear Support Frame

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

So after the very small start on the rear frame it was time to continue on. I finished turning up the threaded inserts and then set about cutting up tubes. Fortunately the tube diameter was the same as the air ‘whizzer’ so grinding the ends to suit was not actually too bad! This was the welded up. It did pull ever so slightly but it still all bolted up and goes on so nothing I cant handle! The cross bar n the top of the frame is a redundant structure, but there just to give extra strength in the chance of an impact.

Rear Frame, A Start Anyway

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

The front now just waiting for bits from the chandlers, I moved onto the rear bodywork. I didnt have too much time, what with being required to put up decorations and alike.

The intended plan is to build a frame out of the rear of the car that will then support the wing mounts, and the rear deck. I have half designed the frame, attempting to keep all the members in tension, at which point I go board and thought a bit of machining would help the brain.

I turned up the first two parts for the frame, as seen below.

Mounting The Air Pump And Accumulator

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Slightly off the current theme, I needed to get the pump and accumulator mounted for the wiring. The pump needed to be lifted off of the floor as it is reasonably heavy, so I made up the bracket below to weld to the chassis. I tacked the bolts to the underside as there is little room to get them in when its all in place.
