Internal Ignition Switch

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Continuing the theme of switches and alike, the next job on the list was to mount the internal ignition switch. I made the little bracket below from some offcut steel sheet we had lying around. It wasn’t really very stiff so I added the returns you can see. To weld it to the chassis I drilled three M9, (the nearest drill bit to me at the time), holes into the upper part and then welded through.

On a lighter note it was the first outing of the sparkly new auto dimming welding mask. We used to have one before but I broke and we never bothered to replace it as we had an old fashioned perma dark one. I have to say it makes it much easier, especially if your hands shake like mine and you end up trying to spark up in the middle of the air!!

Switch Panel

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I have bent up a simple switch panel. It may end up being too small as I cram more electronics into the car, but hopefully the way I have done it will mean it is pretty easy to fold up another larger sheet. It will hopefully stand up to being bashed in the heat of the moment, but we shall have to see..

Oil Pipes II

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I got a massive box from THINK AUTOMOTIVE today. In it were, hopefully but I dont hold out much hope, the rest of the aeroquip fittings for the oil system. So, I measured up the required length of -12 pipe and then stuck on the 120 degree fitting. I am quite pleased with the way this has turned out, the pipes all seem to go quite nicely, well at the moment anyway!
