Oil Cooler Mounts

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Not much time this weekend as we are a little rushed with other jobs! So having the sidepods for the car and not wanting to do nothing, I thought that Iwould at east make a single bracket! So to that end i made a start on mounting the oil cooler. Hanging the sidepods on the car it became evident that there was only one place for the cooler to go, and Ihave to say it fits pretty well!!! To mount it i have turned up an insert, for the outer upper mount and am planning on some bracketry for the others. Below is a pic of the insert in the lathe and it finally welded in place. At the current progression rates I would be lucky to get the car done before the end of next season, hopefully the doors will be ready next week and I can mount the rest =D.

Water Inlet Fixture

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Unfortunately the way I have decided to run the water system on the LR1 means that the standard Hayabusa water inlet is not only a different diameter to my pump but points in exactly the wrong direction! However, when I asked about any modifications to the water system when running a dry sump I was told to just remove the thermostat and constantly run the pump. Now, perhaps the easiest thing to do would have been to do just that, remove the thermostat and use a 180 degree samco pipe and then a reducer. But that would have been too easy for me! So I decided to just make a new fixture, but to use the original seal, as if its works for them there’s no reason it wont work for me! (I hope).
