Bit more time today. I decided to crack on with mounting the oil tank and fuel system. So, I decided to turn up three aluminium pillars to stop the oil tank wiggling around. The pillars are tapped 5/16 UNF. So I stuck the tank in, drilled the aluminium plate it sits on and hey presto, it doesn’t move!
I decided to mount the fuel pump and filter onto the ally panel in front of the oil tank. The fuel tank has a sump on the bottom and is fully baffled, so I don’t intend on running a fuel swirl pot, I can always add one in later if needed. Here is the panel with the pump and filter mounted, the oil tank sits in the middle of these 2. However I didn’t have anymore -6 fittings so I will have to order some next week.
Lastly for the day, I started to make an oil breather tank. This goes at the side of the oil tank. I decided to put a drain in the bottom of it using a 3/8 UNF bolt and an aluminium washer. The tank is a 60mm diameter pipe with a baffle inside. Unfortunatly I need to get some 18mm pipe for the feed and a filter for the breather, but again these will have to be ordered next week.
