Well today I placed the order for my wheels from BBS. The wheels are a hybrid F3 wheel, they are actually the same size centre but with the mini PCD for 4 wheel nuts rather than a centre lock. I have ordered 3 piece wheels, inner rim, centre and outer rim, basically so that if i ding an outer i can just replace the outer rather than the whole thing. Also its LOADS cheaper!! I SHOULD get them in about 4-6 weeks, which will be about perfect timing, as long as everything else goes to plan.
So it was time to use the POR15 spray protective chemical. Now I ws not too sure about this but the instructions said to spray it on, leave for a while, and then wash off with water! This seemed to be asking for trouble, deliberatly spraying it with water but what the hey.
Well, today I did a very small amount of work on the car. As the chassis, and components, have no paint on them, apart from the suspension parts which have I believe Parker coating, I really need to get them all painted. Or at least primed. So I spent today spraying the pedal, and pedal box up black, and cleaning the chassis with thinners in preparation for etch priming.
Today was D-day!! After waking up at some ridiculous hour, Dad and I drove down to Lynx AE and picked up the chassis and all of the suspension. I took copious photographs of Jons LR1 as I am sure I will be completely confused when I come to look at my box of parts. As soon as the chassis was unloaded into the workshop the obligatory ‘sit in’ session was started with me making all sorts of car noises!! I now have another girl in my life and am going to have to be very careful how much time i spend with which!!
